The Youth Team started their MJPL campaign with a win away at Boldmere St Michaels.
The pitch didn't help either team with the grass being left on the long side making the game a generally scruffy affair, Shawbury were far from their best and rode their luck several times in the 1st half from early ball forward. However Shawbury did look lively at the other end, Rhys Hesden was looking lively and came close to scoring on a couple of occasions before having to come off injured on 35 minutes.
Shawbury also had a goal denied in the 1st half when the ball appeared to cross the line.
HT 0 - 0
The second half saw Shawbury change formation and then start to take a stronger hold on the game. The reward cam in 62 minutes when Ben Speake ran in behind the Boldmere defensive line to slot his finish neatly past the Boldmere GK.
Several further chances came the way of each team and Boldmere were unlucky when the struck the post off a set piece.
However Shawbury held on to secure a win in their first appearance in the MJPL.
FT 0 - 1 (Shawbury Win)
We all wish Rhys and Jack speedy recoveries from the injuries they picked up today.
