United host North West Counties First Division South league leaders FC Oswestry Town on Wednesday evening in a bid to progress in the TJ Vickers Shropshire FA Premier Cup. The fixture will take place at the Ludlow Stadium at 7:45pm.
The fixture marks the second game in 3 days for United, although Declan Allen rung the changes in for Monday evenings 4-1 defeat in the Powell Charity Cup as he rested eight first-team players. Those eight are set to return for this fixture.
Unlike most teams in recent weeks, FC Oswestry's fixtures haven't been hampered too much by the weather. Newly appointed manager, Nathan Leonard oversaw a draw and a defeat last week in his first two games in charge. The former Guilsfield Director of Football will be seeking his first win in this one.
United manager, Allen, spoke to the club's website following Monday's defeat by saying: "The result on Monday was clearly very disappointing, collectively the performance was not what we expect at this football club. However, there were shoots of promise with a number of 16-year-old youth team players making their debuts and performing very well and there was a bigger picture in the game as we gave valuable minutes to players that hadn't played much recently."
On the FC Oswestry Town fixture, he added: "It's a tough fixture against a side flying high in their division and with limited games recently it's probably come at the right time to get ourselves going again, it's certainly one where we will have to be on our game to progress. Our form hasn't been great recently and with the weather postponements it hasn't helped but it's a cup game and a decent performance on the night can act as a springboard to begin to turn that around. I think everyone is chomping at the bit to get going again."
