Club Admin7 May 2020 - 10:00

We catch up with club captain Harry Farnsworth to see how he has been coping during the Covid 19 lock-down.

It’s been a difficult time for everyone at the minute so everyone can’t wait for that bit of normality back in their life again and my normality is football. So yes really excited to get back playing again.
- Harry Farnsworth

Harry, it’s certainly been a difficult time in the world with the current Covid 19 pandemic.
Firstly how have you been coping during the lock down?

HF- Obviously the whole world is having there ways of coping with lock down it’s not a nice thing to be going through but yes I’ve been coping Ok just keeping up to date with fitness and staying safe

Since football was finished in early March, have you been keeping yourself fit ready to go when the time comes to return?

HF- To keep fit I’ve been going on regular runs and bike rides. Also when inside the house I’ve been following some HIIT classes on a live video to maintain my cardio and to keep my body strong ready to get back to football.

Looking back on the season. It’s was a season of development for the new look squad, how did you feel it went?

HF- I feel like throughout the short season we have had we have had our ups and down but I feel like we were really starting to form a strong squad. We were learning from our mistakes and we were starting to play the way the Gaffer and Sean want us to play and that proved in our results towards the end of the season.

And yourself, a proud moment being made skipper of your home club. How do you think you have done this season?

HF- It was a really proud moment for me when I was named captain because it’s a honour to have the responsibility in the first place and to have it for my home club makes it that touch sweeter. I feel like my season has had its ups and downs, it’s been different to adapt to the new role of captain but I feel like I’ve learnt and grown as a player throughout the season and I’m excited to get playing again next season.

Some big results during the season, what for you was the best one the team achieved?

HF- In my opinion Dudley Town away when we won 2-3 was a big achievement for the team.
They were one of the better teams we played and were up there fighting for promotion, the way we won that with scoring in the last few minutes was brilliant. The way we battled together as a team to get that win was a massive accomplishment in my eyes.

I guess you must be chomping at the bit to return to pre season training and some normality in life?

HF- Words can’t describe how eager I am to return to pre season training and to get back playing again. As I said before it’s been a difficult time for everyone at the minute so everyone can’t wait for that bit of normality back in their life again and my normality is football. So yes really excited to get back playing again.

As a Shawbury lad you must be excited with the new ground not too far away from being developed?

HF- Living in Shawbury my whole life I know that myself and the community of Shawbury have been eager for the new ground to start. I believe it will bring the whole community together. To give the village the chance to come watch and support the team, to give them their club back, this excites me for the future to play in my home in front of many Shawbury United supporters.
