1st September Smethwick Sikh Temple home
Shawbury triumph yet again
Shawbury went into tonights game against Smethwick at the Butler Sports Ground joint top with Pelsall Villa and Tipton Town with 10 points
from a possible 15 to their name, it's a start which has delighted the club's managers Delwyn Humphreys ans Alan Smith.

And Shawbury did'nt dissapoint as they triumphed again winning 2-1, goals from Steve Giles and Andy Reeve.
Shawbury started brightly and carved out a few openings but the visiting keeper kept Shawbury at bay.
Shawbury then broke the deadlock midway through the first half when a corner was floated in for Dave Timms to flick on and Steve Giles was
on hand at the far post to head the ball into the net, but just as Shawbury thought it was going to be their night Smethwick hit back with a goal
as their forward broke clear of the Shawbury defence and rounded the keeper to make it all square 1-1 at the break.

Shawbury came out better in the second half and won their own individual battles to overcome a very well organised Smethwick side who will
do well this season.

Then on 75 minutes Jamie Lee put in a telling cross from the right hand side for Andy Reeve to power his header into the back of then net and
claim a well deserved 3 points.

4th September Wellington away
Shawbury management left scathing
Shawbury slumped to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Herefordshire based opponents Wellington and the joint managers were left scathing at
the display put on by the players.

Shawbury performance was dreadful even against a poor Wellington side and everyone can take some of the blame for the display that was
put on.

Wellington took the lead in the 80th minute when their striker scored a free header from close range and added to Shawbury's miserable
afternoon.

The players were really down after the game and we now have to get them fired up for the game against Tividale on Tuesday night and
hopefully put this game behind us.

7th September Tividale away
Back to winning ways
SHAWBURY UNITED got back to winning ways with a 1-0 verdict at Tividale on Tuesday night.

Joint boss Delwyn Humphreys praised his players having been scathing about his team's performance just a few days earlier when they
went down to a late header.

" It was a totally different performance than on Saturday when we were abysmal, he said. " We needed a midweek game to put thing right,
and the players responded and now it will put us in good heart for Saturday's FA Vase game."

A first half penalty from Steve Handley sealed the win after Steve Giles had been brought down in the box by the home keeper.
11th September Friar Lane & Epworth away
FA Vase disappointment
Shawbury suffered disappointment in the FA Vase as they crashed out to Friar Lane & Epworth.
Despite failing to produce their best, Shawbury looked on course to progress after Steve Handley put them in front from the penalty spot on
the half hour following a foul on Steve Giles.
But the hosts scored two second half goals to dump the E&S Premier Division high-fliers out of the competition. " I'm not sure wether we
froze, but we just didn't perform on the day," joint boss Delwyn Humphreys admitted.
"We didn't pass the ball as well as we could have and, although we had three or four late chances to get a draw, we didn't deserve anything
out of the game.
" It's disappointing because the Vase is a great competition to be involved in. People say you won't win it but you never know what can
happen.
13th September Wem Town Colts away
Powell Cup
Shawbury with a much changed side from saturday's disappointing performance in the FA Vase had to play a much different opposition in the
form of local side Wem Town Colts in the Powell Cup charity competition which is staged at Shawbury's home ground in Wem.

Shawbury eased through to the next round winning 7-0, goals from Dave Timms 2, Delwyn Humphries, Jez Harman, Chris Hill, Tom Rogers
& Daz Evason.

In the next round Shawbury will face Ellesmere Rangers who now play in the West Midland League Division Two.
14th September Coseley Town away
Shawbury surge to joint top
Shawbury United moved to joint top of the E&S West Midland Regional Premier League with a 2-1 win at Coseley Town.

The North Shropshire side were knocked out of the FA Vase at the weekend but responded in style on Tuesday night to keep their promotion
challenge on track.

Steve Handley put them ahead from the penalty spot after Steve Giles had been fouled, and Giles himself doubled the lead with just 10 minutes
to go with a cool lob over the Coseley keeper.

Coseley got a consolation goal with just seconds remaining after the referee awarded them a penalty in which both sides still are not sure why!
to end the game 2-1.
Still more to come
18th September Lye Town home
Shawbury insist there is still more to come from their team as they prepare to host Goodrich.

The Wem based club kept on the tails of leaders Tipton with an impressive 5-1 victory over Lye Town on Saturday, Shaun Humphries opening the
scoring and Tom Rogers & Steve Giles both grabbing braces.

That result kept Shawbury level on points with leaders Tipton but joint manager Alan Smith: "It's hard to grumble but we are still only playing in
patches.

"We are not far away from really clicking but i still think we have a lot more to offer."
Missed chances
22nd September Goodrich home
Shawbury can't understand how they drew 1-1 with Goodrich on Wednesday night.

Straight from the kick-off Shawbury threatened the Goodrich goal with their keeper pulling off some fine saves to keep out
shots from Giles & Rogers early on but just as you think it's going to be Shawbury's night Goodrich are gifted a goal
when the home keeper dropped the ball at the feet of the visiting striker who duly converted from 2 yards out.

The second half was much the same as chance after chance went begging for Shawbury, Tom Rogers, Shaun Humphries
& Steve Giles all went close but to no avail.

Shawbury were then awarded a free kick which was quickly taken and Tom Rogers latched on the end to convert the
equaliser. Shawbury pushed for the winner but could not add to that and had to settle for a draw.

Shawbury were disappointed at the final whistle & felt it was two points dropped in a game in which they dominated and
should have won.
