Poor run continues
|
|
Shawbury's poor run of results continued on Saturday with a heavy 4-0 defeat away to Heath Hayes on a soggy coppice colliery pitch.
A depleted Shawbury side were slow out of the blocks and the home side took full advantage and opened the scoring early on with a good
flowing move down the right and an excellent headed goal. The second came just before half time as Shawbury failed to clear their lines and the same player made no mistake from close range.
The second half was much the same for Shawbury who played poorly on the day and Heath Hayes added two more goals to add to Shawbury's
miserable afternoon. |

19th March Tividale home
|
|
Shawbury aimed to bounce back from a poor run of results of late when they played host to Tividale on a sunny afternoon at the Butler Sports
Ground on Saturday.
Shawbury started well and took the lead early on when Tom Rodgers lashed the ball into the top corner from the edge of the 18 yard box giving
stand in keeper Ian Cooke no chance in goal.
Shawbury were awarded a penalty ten minutes later after Steve Giles was brought down in the box by the keeper and Dave Timms tucked away
the resulting spot kick.
Tividale must of felt it wasn't going to be their day when one of their players headed wide in front of an open goal,
but they made ammends in the second half when they were awarded a penalty early on after defender Paul Matthews tripped a Tividale player
and the resulting penalty was scored to reduce the deficit.
Shawbury then hit the destruct button when their own freekick was pumped up-field only for the ball to come straight back to a Tividale striker
who lobbed the stranded keeper Colin Smith from close range and into the net to make it 2-2. |

Shawbury bounce back
|
|
Shawbury were back to winning ways on Saturday and a 2-1 result was enough to claim all three points at home to Bromyard with prolific
marksman Tom Rogers on target yet again and an own goal sent the visitors back to Herefordshire empty handed.
Shawbury opened the scoring early on from a corner when Phil Denson headed back across goal for Rogers to put the ball into the net from close
range.
Shawbury then had a slice of luck when a right wing cross was put into the Bromyard goal area only for one of the centre-halfs and the goalkeeper
going for the same ball which resulted in the defender heading the ball into his own net and the keeper left stranded at the edge of the box fuming.
Bromyard did pull one back late into the second half from the penalty spot after Paul Matthews brought down a Bromyard striker in the box, who
then picked himself up to convert the resulting spot kick. But the Shawbury defence stood firm and the team held out for the deserved win and back up to 3rd in the league. |

29th March Ettingshall H.T away
|
|
Shawbury added to an excellent Bank Holiday Easter weekend by giving lowly Ettingshall Holy Trinity a 6-0
mauling on Tuesday evening. Tom Ward led the charge with a hat-trick with Steve Giles weighing in with Two and a Shaun Humphries strike to completing the scoring.
Shawbury opened the scoring when Tom Ward headed the ball down for Steve Giles to volley home, Craig Sanders
who's vision & delivery of the ball was excellent throughout the game picked out Tom Ward twice in quick succession to make no mistake in front of goal, Giles then got his second goal by beating his markers & rounding the keeper to slot home.
Tom Ward then got his third of the game and Shaun Humphries added a late goal to make it six without reply from
a well beaten Ettingshall H.T side. |
